The Gentoo Forums are a part of the Gentoo website. Their forums are always extremely active. Always search before you make a new post, because chances are someone else has already had and solved the problem you notice. The forums are also a great way to see new and upcoming things in Gentoo. Many user-developers have created scripts for Gentoo tasks/procedures and you can download and enjoy them.

[edit] Gentoo Bugzilla

The Gentoo Bugzilla is the prefered method of contacting developers. If you have found a bug in Gentoo, or wish to post an .ebuild into portage, or some other task along this line, then bugzilla is for you.

[edit] IRC

Although IRC isn't popular on campus, developers continue to use it as one of their primary means of communication. For a full detail of Gentoo's IRC channels, see http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/irc.xml .

Always do your homework and look on the web before going to IRC. They are nice and helpful on IRC, but you should always make the web effort first so you're not asking a lot of questions which have already been answered before. When documentation is not enough, that is when you should turn to IRC.

Server: irc.freenode.org

Channel: #gentoo

Note: The default IRC ports are blocked on Clemson's campus. Utilize a different port, such as 7000, for the connection instead, if the server you are connecting to supports it.
