The Gentoo developers have put together a really awesome installation guide. It is the Gentoo handbook. There is no better guide to installing Gentoo, so use this one. It can be a fairly lengthy read if you've never done a process similiar to it. The good news is it is full of a lot of great information to learn more about Linux. For a successful Gentoo install, follow this guide and take advantage of the pointers it gives.
