Lnx101:About
From Linux 101, The beginner's guide to all things Linux.
This project was started by the Clemson Linux Users Group to promote Linux among students and faculty. However, it can very easily have influence outside of our local community. Anyone is welcome to contribute to the project, as well as take from it.
[edit] About Linux 101
"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach him to fish, feed him for a lifetime."
In the spirit of this, Linux 101 is not about giving mere specifics. The site is focused on teaching concepts and then demonstrating them with commands or some other practical use. Linux 101 is not about rewriting all documentation out there, but it has two goals:
- Give a broad overview of the basics to Linux.
- Explain the developers' rationale.
After a general understanding of the material is given, then articles can get down into the technicalities of the subjects. Linux can get as technical as you want it to be; that is its power. However, with the help of this site, hopefully you can begin your path to mastering Linux.
As a recommendation, before making any additions or modifications to the site, read our Community Portal.
