You do not need a computer running Linux to read Linux 101. However, some of the articles do have commands in use. You would benefit from having some shell access to a system running Linux, if not even a full desktop. If you do not have a system running Linux you could always install Linux onto your computer. It would be wise to install Linux at an installfest.

The writers do attempt to write for those without a strong technical background. We do assume that you know the basic parts of a computer, such as a keyboard, mouse, monitor, hardware, etc. We also assume you know the basics to networking. We try to fill in every possible gap after that.
