Talk:Getting Started
From Linux 101, The beginner's guide to all things Linux.
what is the purpose of this. is this not the syllabus ?
- Well I wanted a track that new users could follow that was shorter and more to the point. There might have also been new topics added that weren't in the syllabus that I wanted to make sure were on there too. There's a lot on the syllabus that isn't vital for getting started (hint the title of the article). For example, the syllabus includes Ten faces of extraordinary men at the beginning. I want to help people learn Linux—not scare off little children.
- This is also why I went through the articles as I added them and cleaned some of them up. Took out the useless shit. The syallbus might be more useful for a class type situation, and the Getting Started better for self-paced. Jay 00:33, 31 May 2005 (EDT)
